PNP, PDEA seize P91 million shabu

MANILA, Philippines — Operatives seized 13.39 kilos of shabu valued at P91.04 million on Thursday in Parañaque, the Philippine National Police said.
PNP chief Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the illegal drugs were seized from five people who were arrested by a joint police and Philippine drug Enforcement Agency team at a townhouse in Barangay Sun Valley.
“The PNP will not stop working against those involved in illegal drugs. We will continue to act decisively, within the bounds of the law, to protect our communities,” Nartatez said in a statement.
He identified the suspects only as Bossing, Jezreel, Hazel, Ricardo and James, a former police officer.
Apart from shabu, anti-narcotics agents confiscated five containers of liquid chemicals, two .45-caliber handguns, a Bushmaster rifle, communication devices and P319,950 in cash.
Charges for drug trafficking and illegal possession of firearms were filed against the suspects.
Barangay captain Christopher Marius Cortez said the suspects are newbies in their community.
“They have been here for only five days. They just moved in during the Holy Week,” Cortez said over dzBB.
In another operation in Parañaque on Thursday, police arrested two men for possession of 210 grams of shabu worth P1.42 million.
Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin, National Capital Region Police Office director, said the suspects were apprehended during a sting operation in Barangay San Dionisio at around 12:05 a.m.
