MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has released the official calendar of activities and the list of prohibited acts related to the conduct of the first parliamentary election in the Bangsamoro region on Sept. 14.

Comelec Resolution 11214 outlines key pre-election activities including an extended deadline for party registration and accreditation on April 6, hearing and approval of applications on April 21, and the last day for party conventions on April 29.

In a memorandum dated April 8, the Comelec requested the publication of the resolution in a newspaper of general circulation, and its posting on the poll body’s website, to ensure a wider public awareness and compliance.

Political parties and coalitions are required to submit their sworn lists of authorized signatories by April 30.

Filing of certificates of candidacy for district representatives and submission of nominees by regional parliamentary political parties and coalitions will be conducted from May 5 to 7.

Poll preparations will begin in mid-June including the constitution of electoral boards and posting of the voters’ list on June 16.

The Comelec set the election period from July 16 to Sept. 29. During the period, a gun ban will be imposed, use of security personnel will be restricted and transfer of civil service officials will be prohibited.

The campaign period will run from July 30 to Sept. 12.

During the period, releasing of public funds, hiring of government employees and implementing public works and projects, except in specific cases allowed by law, are prohibited.

From Sept. 4 to 14, an absolute ban on the release of public funds, except for medical and burial assistance, will be implemented.

On the eve of the election, a liquor ban will be imposed, and candidates and their supporters will not be allowed to campaign.
