BAGUIO CITY , Philippines — Several local government units (LGUs) have canceled activities lined up for the celebration of local festivals and milestones, in compliance with national energy conservation measures.

Among these LGUs is the provincial government of Mountain Province, which suspended all activities for the 2026 Lang-ay Festival.

Gov. Bonifacio Lacwasan Jr. yesterday issued a directive suspending the street dancing contest, cultural presentation, concert, trade fair and sports competition set for the Lang-ay Festival.

Lacwasan said a simple and solemn ceremony in observance of the province’s foundation day on April 7 will be conducted to minimize the use of electricity, fuel and other resources.

In Pangasinan, the municipal government of Lingayen suspended  community gatherings.

Lingayen Mayor Josefina Castañeda on Tuesday directed barangay captains to implement energy conservation measures due to surging fuel prices.

Aside from Lingayen, the city government of Dagupan also scrapped a dance parade highlighting the Bangus Festival, although other activities may be conducted during the festivity.
