‘Bus firm must explain 3-hour wait in Alabang’

Josiah Antonio - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — After making commuters wait for over three hours at a terminal in Alabang, Muntinlupa, a bus firm could face sanctions over the “unacceptable and insulting” behavior of its driver and conductor.

The franchise of A&B Liner Inc. could be canceled or suspended for failing to provide comfortable services to commuters at the Vista Terminal Exchange terminal in Alabang.

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) issued a show-cause order to the bus company, directing it to explain the incident and attend a hearing on March 19.

The incident had gone viral on social media.

“Vulgarity is the language that the driver and conductor know. We’ll give them a lesson to send a message that this kind of behavior is not tolerated and must be corrected,” LTFRB Chairman Vigor Mendoza II said.

Tino Olivarez, who posted the incident on social media, said they waited inside the bus from 10 p.m. until 12:30 a.m.

“Abuses and bad behavior of drivers and conductors are normalized because commuters would not stand their ground and push back,” Mendoza said, as he urged the public to report erring transport operators.
