Ballot printing for Antipolo special election starts
MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) yesterday started printing official ballots for the conduct of a special election in the second legislative district of Antipolo City.
The Comelec’s ballot production committee said a total of 252,793 ballots are targeted to be completed in one day at the National Printing Office in Diliman, Quezon City, as part of preparations for the electoral exercise that will be conducted on March 14.
The process started with test prints at 8 a.m., followed by the printing of official ballots and accountable forms at around 9 a.m.
The special election was called to fill a vacancy left by congressman Romeo Acop, who died in December.
Seven candidates are vying for the congressional seat in the upcoming vote.
“The Comelec assures the public of a transparent and secure printing process to maintain the integrity of the special electoral exercise,” the poll body said in a statement yesterday.
