Crimes drop by 13% in Manila

MANILA, Philippines — Crime incidents in Manila decreased by 13.08 percent in the fourth quarter of 2025, the Manila Police District’s data showed.

At the MPD’s first command conference this year, police district chief Brig. Gen. Arnold Abad presented peace and order data to Mayor Isko Moreno.

Crime volume dropped to 1,834 in last year’s fourth quarter from 2,110 in the third quarter.

Index crimes went down to 239 from 291. Non-index crimes fell to 1,595 from 1,819 during the same period.

Moreno said the drop in crime volume reflected sustained enforcement and a policy of ensuring accountability for criminal acts in the city.

He praised the MPD personnel’s discipline, restraint and adherence to due process.

Moreno thanked Abad and the MPD for their performance.

“I’m happy and I’m proud of each and every one of you,” Moreno said, urging police officers to remain focused and sustain gains in crime reduction.
