MANILA, Philippines — Up to 312 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who returned from Kuwait on Tuesday received food packs from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).

The OFWs received “charitimba” packages containing assorted canned goods, noodles and biscuits as well as P2,500 upon arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1.

PCSO general manager Melquiades Robles said the gift-giving event is the first for the PCSO, in collaboration with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), as part of the “Bagong Taong Salubong sa OFWs.”

Robles and PCSO chairman Felix Reyes led the distribution of the food packs.

The charitimba is a gesture of support as OFWs reunite with their families, Robles said.

Imelda Papin, singer and PCSO board member, and OWWA Administrator Patrica Yvonne Caunan joined the event.

“The PCSO stands as a partner to your families here in the Philippines, ready to assist and provide support while you continue to work abroad,” Robles said.

“We want to assure you that you are not alone. As you strive to build a better future for your loved ones, the PCSO remains committed to looking after the welfare of your families back home,” he said.
