2 ‘rebel leaders’ surrender in Kalinga

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — Two alleged leaders of the New People’s Army (NPA) have surrendered to the military in Pinukpuk, Kalinga.
The rebels, identified only as “Jaguar” and “Junix,” surrendered to the Army’s 5th Infantry Division (5ID) on Nov. 28 and 29.
Lt. Col. Melvin Asuncion, chief of the Army’s 5ID, said the rebels claimed that the military’s relentless operation compelled them to abandon the communist movement.
The surrenderees were subjected to a debriefing. They did not bring any firearm when they surrendered.
