3 slain in Cubao drug bust
MANILA, Philippines — Three men were killed in what police said was a shootout with members of the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) during an anti-narcotics operation in Cubao, Quezon City yesterday afternoon.
The incident happened at around 2:30 p.m. near a gasoline station at the corner of 13th Avenue and Justice Lourdes Paredes San Diego street in Barangay Socorro.
Police said members of the PDEG’s Special Operations Unit 3, led by Col. Richard Ian Ang, were pursuing a drug suspect known only as alias Dan and his alleged cohorts.
Investigators said the police team was in the middle of a drug deal when the suspects reportedly opened fire, prompting lawmen to retaliate.
The suspects died at the scene.
Police said they recovered firearms allegedly used by the suspects.
