Caloocan bags multiple DILG awards
MANILA, Philippines — Caloocan City earned multiple recognitions for good governance during the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Urban Exemplar Awards, highlighting its performance in public safety, social protection and environmental management.
The city was named a top performer in the local council against anti-trafficking as well as in its efforts to prevent violence against women and children. It was also cited as a significant partner for the peace and order council and anti-drug abuse council.
Also given to the city was the 2024 ideal functionality rating for its council for the protection of children as well as a recognition for its compliance with the Manila Bay clean-up, rehabilitation and preservation program.
The city earned the top performer award under the informal settler families cluster, while the Sangguniang Panlungsod was given the exemplary performance distinction under the 2025 Local Legislative Awards.
Mayor Along Malapitan praised city workers and residents for the achievements, saying the awards reflected their shared efforts to improve governance and strengthen community programs.
“It is an honor for the entire city to receive these recognitions. But the greatest achievement is seeing the quality of life of our people improve,” Malapitan said in Filipino.
Noting that the awards serve as encouragement, Malapitan said the city government would continue to enhance its services.
