AFP installs new Camp Aguinaldo chief

MANILA, Philippines — The Armed Forces of the Philippines has installed Col. Emil Cruz as the new commander of Camp Aguinaldo, the AFP announced on Friday.
Cruz assumed the post during a change of command ceremony presided by AFP Vice Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Jimmy Larida.
He replaced Col. Paul Anthony Guerrero, who relinquished the post following his appointment as deputy commander of the general headquarters and the headquarters service command.
In his remarks, Larida commended Cruz and Guerrero, saying their appointments mark the trust and confidence from the AFP leadership. He noted Guerrero’s professionalism and steadfast service that kept the command efficient and mission-ready during the transition.
The military said the event “highlighted the AFP’s commitment to leadership continuity and organizational excellence, ensuring that every command remains aligned with their mission of protecting the people and securing the state.”
Cruz is a member of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1992 and previously served as acting commander of the 402nd Infantry Brigade. He holds a master’s degree in national security administration.
