Maguindanao ambush leaves 3 dead
Farmer Ibrahim Payapat, his wife and their 16-year-old daughter were on a tricycle when gunmen ambushed them, killing the three instantly.

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Three members of a family were killed while another was wounded in an ambush by unidentified gunmen in Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao del Norte on Monday.

Ibrahim Payapat, his wife Zenaida and their 16-year-old daughter Aisa were declared dead on arrival at the Cotabato Sanitarium Hospital.

The victims’ 11-year-old relative was taken to the same hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound.

Reports said the victims were in a tricycle driven by Payapat when the assailants waylaid them in Barangay Nalinan.

A manhunt was launched for the gunmen.
