Napolcom names new CIDG, HPG chiefs

MANILA, Philippines — The National Police Commission (Napolcom) has appointed new heads for the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and the Highway Patrol Group (HPG).
In a resolution issued yesterday, the Napolcom confirmed the appointment of Maj. Gen. Robert Alexander Morico II as acting CIDG director and Col. Hansel Marantan as acting director of the HPG.
Marantan was the police chief of Davao City at the time of the arrest of alleged sex offender Apollo Quiboloy.
Morico previously served as director of the Area Police Command Visayas.
Other Philippine National Police (PNP) officials reshuffled by the Napolcom are Police Regional Office 12 director Brig. Gen. Romeo Macapaz, who has been reassigned to the Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit. He was replaced by Brig. Gen. Arnold Ardiente.
Macapaz had been preventively suspended by Napolcom over his alleged involvement in the case of missing sabungeros.
The Napolcom has also affirmed the designation of Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. as acting PNP chief.
