Philippine math students win 7 medals in Vietnam

MANILA, Philippines — Filipino students have won seven individual medals and several special awards, including Champion Team honors, during the 2025 Vietnam International Mathematics Competition in Da Nang City from Aug. 14 to 19.

The Philippine team, mentored by the Mathematics Trainers’ Guild Phils. (MTG), also bagged nine Merit citations in the competition.

Up to 553 students from 30 economies, including Bulgaria, Canada, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Nepal, Peru, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, the United States and Zimbabwe joined the contest hosted by the Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communications Technology.

Host Vietnam and Singapore topped the contest.
