Barangay exec, 2 drug den owners busted in Davao City operation

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-11 arrested two drug den operators and a barangay official in an entrapment operation in the Matina area of Davao City on Saturday, August 23.
Radio reports on Sunday morning, August 24, in Cotabato City and nearby Bangsamoro provinces stated that the three male suspects were immediately detained after selling 19 grams of shabu, worth P129,200, to PDEA-11 agents and policemen during a tradeoff at their hideout in GSIS Heights, a residential area in Matina, Davao City.
Officials of PDEA-11 and the Police Regional Office-11 told reporters on Sunday that two of the suspects operated a drug den at GSIS Heights, where they facilitated pot sessions for drug dependents.
Under Philippine law, drug den operations are non-bailable offenses.
The third suspect is an incumbent barangay official in Santa Cruz town, Davao del Sur, who allegedly sold shabu in the municipality supplied by the duo.
PDEA-11 officials said all three suspects are now detained and will be prosecuted for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, with the P129,200 worth of shabu confiscated as evidence.
