NAIA passenger recovers jewelry

MANILA, Philippines — Personnel of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) have recovered a jewelry box left behind by a Filipina passenger who departed for Singapore.
Kimberly Nakamura had asked for the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA)’s help after losing her jewelry on June 28.
Posting the incident on social media, Nakamura complained that none of the airport staff turned over her jewelry to the lost and found section at the NAIA Terminal 3.
“More than 10 personnel were caught handling the box,” Nakamura said. “On July 8, my jewelry box was finally recovered by airport police, but with only the earrings and the necklace left.”
The airport employee who surrendered the jewelry box confessed to taking it home for personal use.
Nakamura recovered her wedding rings after a security staff admitted to stealing her husband’s ring. An anonymous text message said her other ring was hidden under a table.
MIAA chief Eric Ines has stressed the importance of integrity among airport personnel, reminding them to report misplaced items to the lost and found section.
