MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Customs yesterday warned the public against bogus Facebook accounts impersonating BOC officials.

In a statement, the BOC said it has received reports about fake social media accounts assuming the identity of the bureau, including its name, logo and branding, and reposting official updates and information to the fake accounts.

The public should not share personal information, send payments or engage with these unverified Facebook accounts, the BOC said.

The BOC maintains only one verified Facebook page as the official source of updates, announcements and services, Customs Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno said.

The BOC encourages the public to report fake Facebook accounts to (02) 8705-6000 or email [email protected].
