Go reaffirms support for senior citizens
MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Bong Go has reaffirmed his support for the elderly as he joined the inauguration of a regional office of the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) in Barangay Dadiangas, General Santos City on Friday.
Go has pushed for the funding and construction of the NCSC building to uplift the welfare of senior citizens and ensure access to health care for all Filipinos.
In a speech, Go thanked the elderly for giving him another chance to serve them.
He said that during his first term in the Senate, he authored and sponsored 19 and 94 laws, respectively, a majority of which intends to improve health infrastructure and services.
“Aside from that, I co-authored and co-sponsored 191 laws. I have a perfect attendance in the Senate,” he said.
Go underscored his support for the NCSC and its mission to respond to the needs of senior citizens.
He cited his legislative efforts, particularly as co-author and co-sponsor of Republic Act 11982 or the Expanded Centenarians Act of 2024, which provides P10,000 cash gift to Filipinos aged 80, 85, 90 and 95 years, in addition to the existing P100,000 cash gift for centenarians.
He said he was co-author of RA 11916, which increased the social pension for indigent senior citizens.
