2 nabbed for kidnap of 2 Chinese, South Korean

MANILA, Philippines — Two suspects were arrested for allegedly kidnapping two Chinese nationals and a South Korean last month, the National Bureau of Investigation announced yesterday.
The NBI said the victims were kidnapped on May 2 while on their way to a fishing trip in Nasugbu, Batangas.
The suspects were nabbed by the NBI and the police Anti-Kidnapping Group.
Posing as law enforcers, the kidnappers set up a fake police checkpoint near the Kaybiang Tunnel in the boundary of Batangas and Cavite where they intercepted the victims and forced them into a vehicle.
Jomar Pelayo Ubarde turned himself in to the NBI on May 26. He confessed to his role in the planning and logistics of the kidnapping.
Ubarde identified Danilo Lominoque Abilong as the suspected mastermind and John Nelson Ladrera as the alleged recruiter of other accomplices.
Abilong admitted planting a global positioning system or GPS tracker on one of the victims in exchange for money.
Authorities have filed charges of conspiracy to commit kidnapping for ransom against Ubarde and Ladrera, who remains at large.
Abilong faces a separate case of kidnapping for ransom.
Another suspect, known only as Erick, is being hunted by the NBI.
