Quake jolts La Union, Ilocos areas

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — A magnitude 5.2 earthquake jolted La Union and several areas in Ilocos region yesterday morning, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.
Phivolcs said the quake occurred at 10:36 a.m. and its epicenter was located 31 kilometers west of Luna town in La Union.
The temblor was felt at Intensity 4 in Candon and Vigan, and Intensity 3 in Sinait, Ilocos Sur.
Intensity 2 was felt in Bangued, Abra; Tagudin in Ilocos Sur; San Fernando and Aringay in La Union, and Bani, Infanta and Bolinao in Pangasinan.
State seismologists said the quake was expected to generate aftershocks.
