Nancy Binay to overhaul Makati City Hall

MANILA, Philippines — Inspired by President Marcos’s Cabinet overhaul, Makati mayor-elect Sen. Nancy Binay will ask all department heads at the city hall to resign when she assumes office on June 30.
“Like the President, we will ask for the courtesy resignation of department heads in Makati,” Binay told reporters during a Senate forum yesterday.
“At the end of the day, it’s important that I work with people I trust. So that’s one of the first few orders of the day,” she added.
Binay said she would retain the department chiefs who are “trustworthy and capable.”
She will succeed her sister, Mayor Abby Binay, after defeating the latter’s husband, District 2 Rep. Luis Campos, in the mayoral race.
The outgoing senator said she remains open to reconciling with her political rivals, including Abby, who lost in her senatorial bid.
Binay said she is also willing to initiate talks with Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano amid the two cities’ dispute over the “embo” barangays.
