MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Education (DepEd) has launched its election command center at TechZone in Makati to provide round-the-clock assistance to teachers and school personnel serving in the midterm polls.

Operational from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. on May 13, the center serves as the national coordination hub of the DepEd’s Election Task Force (ETF), which provides real-time monitoring, legal assistance and support for personnel on the ground.

Education Secretary Sonny Angara said the department is committed to protecting teachers who play a vital role in the electoral process.

“DepEd stands firm in protecting our teachers and ensuring that they are never alone as they carry out their civic duty,” Angara said.

For the first time, the ETF is operating with a funding of P99.3 million under the 2025 General Appropriations Act to support its nationwide deployment of response teams.

These teams are responsible for coordinating with the Commission on Elections, addressing field issues and maintaining communication through hotline and help desk services.

The DepEd has emphasized the importance of neutrality among its personnel during the election period, reminding all officials and staff to adhere to civil service rules on non-partisanship.
