CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — Police have filed criminal complaints against a 28-year-old businessman who shot four people, including his wife, during a road rage incident in Antipolo City on Sunday.

Lt. Col. Ryan Manongdo, Antipolo police chief, said charges of multiple frustrated homicide and violations of the Omnibus Election Code and the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act were filed against the suspect, identified only as alias Kenneth, before the City Prosecutor’s Office yesterday morning.

“Although the suspect’s gun has a license, he was charged for gun ban violation,” Manongdo told The STAR over the phone.

Three of the victims, including Kenneth’s partner Camille, were discharged from the Cabading and Rodriquez Hospital yesterday.

Manongdo confirmed that the fourth victim, identified as alias Peter, died from a gunshot to the head last night.

According to Manongdo, Kenneth, Camille and their child came from a private resort in Barangay Boso-Boso when they encountered three motorcycle riders who came from Tanay, Rizal.

Videos shared on social media showed Kenneth in a fistfight with one of the riders before pulling out a gun and firing multiple shots. The footage also showed him carrying an injured woman into his vehicle.

LTO orders probe

Land Transportation Office (LTO) chief Vigor Mendoza II yesterday ordered an investigation into the incident as he reminded motorists to keep their cool while on the road.

He said road rage would only bring trouble.

Show-cause orders were issued to Kenneth and the three motorcycle riders to explain what happened.

The LTO also suspended their driver’s licenses for 90 days and their vehicles placed under an alarm.

“The result of the investigation will serve as the basis for the action of the LTO, including the possibility of a driver’s license revocation,” Mendoza said.

8 cops get awards

Philippine National Police chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil yesterday commended eight police officers for their swift action in arresting Kenneth.

During a ceremony at the Antipolo Component City Police Station, Marbil awarded the Medalya ng Kagalingan to Lt. Orlando Jalmasco, CM/Sgt. Ranel Cruz, Corporals Kaveen John Vea, Joeban Abendaño and Niño Chavez and Patrolmen Reylan de Chavez, Michael Keith Panganiban and John Mark Manahan.
