SC sets flexible work hours for Muslim judges

MANILA, Philippines — The Supreme Court (SC) has allowed Muslim judges and lower court personnel to follow flexible working hours to give them the opportunity to observe the holy month of Ramadan.

In a one-page circular, SC court administrator Raul Villanueva said the flexible work arrangement would be valid until the end of Ramadan, which “will be determined by the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos.”

“Muslim judges and lower court personnel are allowed to report for work from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. without break from Mondays to Fridays,” the circular states.

Villanueva said the flexible work schedule may also be applied to those working on Saturdays during Ramadan.

The end of Ramadan is called Eid al-Fitr.
