Dengue cases in Negros Occidental continue to increase

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — Dengue cases in Negros Occidental have reached 1,151 during the first two months of the year, according to the provincial health office.

The province recorded an increase of 818 cases, or 339.99 percent higher than the cases recorded during the same period last year.

Bacolod reported 180 dengue cases with one fatality from Jan. 1 to Feb. 22, while Bago logged the most number of cases with 232.

Other areas that recorded cases of the mosquito-borne disease are La Carlota with 89 followed by Kabankalan with 84, San Carlos City with 71, Silay with 67, Pulupandan and Cauayan with 54 each, Talisay with 48, and Hinigaran and Ilog with 38 each.
