Aquino Center to reopen museum
MANILA, Philippines — After a two-year renovation, the Aquino Center will reopen its museum to the public just in time for the 39th anniversary of the EDSA People Power revolution.
Francis Joseph Dee, deputy executive director of the Ninoy and Cory Aquino Foundation, said the museum’s reopening to the public at the Aquino Center in Barangay San Miguel, Tarlac City would be on Feb. 25.
The museum section chronicles the nation’s journey to democracy through the lives of Sen. Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr., his wife former president Corazon “Cory Aquino and their son, former president Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.
The public opening follows the launch of the photobook entitled “PNoy: Filipino,” which takes an intimate look at the younger Aquino’s presidency through the eyes of his close-in photographers, on Feb. 24.
The younger Aquino died in June 2021 from a lingering illness.
Among the features of the refurbished museum are an enhanced section on the 1987 Constitution, an expanded exhibit on Cory’s post-presidency years and a dedicated wing on the life and presidency of her son. It also has interactive elements that invite visitors to reflect on the theme of choice.
The Aquino Center was closed for renovation in 2023.
