MANILA, Philippines —   Sen. Bong Go joined the celebration of the 25th Pandanan Festival and the 170th absolute Independence Day in Luisiana, Laguna on Wednesday.

The festival, which draws inspiration from the abundant pandan trees in the area, has become a symbol of Luisiana’s rich cultural identity and resilience.

Celebrated annually, the event showcases parades, traditional dances and competitions that highlight the town’s historical roots and communal spirit.

The festival also marks the 170th Absolute Independence Day of the town.

“Nais kong pasalamatan ang bawat isa sa inyo na nandito ngayon upang ipagdiwang ang isa sa pinakamamahal nating tradisyon dito sa Luisiana, Laguna – ang Pandanan Festival. Sa pagtatagpo natin ngayon, ipinagdiriwang natin hindi lamang ang kayamanan ng ating kultura at kasaysayan kundi pati na rin ang kalayaan at kasarinlan na ating tinatamasa,” Go said.

Go was accompanied by Vice Gov. Karen Agapay, Luisiana Mayor Jomapher Alvarez, Vice Mayor Luibic Jacob, and Alaminos Mayor Glenn Flores, among others.

During the celebration, Go’s contributions to the community were recognized under Resolution No. 50 adopted by the Sangguniang Bayan and signed by Alvarez and Jacob, which declared the senator as the adopted son of Luisiana.

The resolution highlights Go’s commitment to several key sectors, including health, agriculture, food security, fire prevention and protection, sports and youth.

”His efforts have significantly enhanced public service delivery, empowered local government units and led to vital legislative measures that benefit the nation as a whole,” the resolution read.
