MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has ordered an investigation into a road rage incident that occurred recently at the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority in Olongapo, Zambales.

LTO chief Vigor Mendoza II ordered the investigation after video footage showing the driver of a black Toyota Fortuner hitting a Toyota Wigo driven by a senior citizen went viral on social media.

“I have directed the chief of the of LTO-Central Luzon to look into this incident and immediately issue a show-cause order to the registered owner of this vehicle,” Mendoza said, referring to the Fortuner.

“It is clear in these videos that the demeanor of the driver of the Fortuner was unacceptable. He fled to escape responsibility,” Mendoza added.

He thanked netizens for uploading the video, saying the incident would have gone unnoticed.

“With information relayed by witnesses, we will be able to take action against the registered owner and driver of this vehicle,” Mendoza said.

He said he directed the LTO-Central Luzon to reach out to the family of the senior citizen.
