Man held over bomb joke

MANILA, Philippines — A passenger ended up in jail after he allegedly cracked a bomb joke at the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3)’s Cubao station in Quezon City, police reported yesterday.

Niño Gabrino is facing a complaint for violating Presidential Decree 1727, otherwise known as the anti-bomb joke law, before the Quezon City prosecutor’s office.

Gabrino was arrested at the northbound entrance of the MRT-3 Cubao station on Tuesday.

Probers said while a security guard was inspecting a box, which Gabrino was carrying, he allegedly said that it contained a grenade.

“May granada diyan sa loob. Sasabog ‘yan,” Gabrino was quoted as saying.

Security officers accosted Gabrino and turned him over to the Cubao police station 7.
