MANILA, Philippines — Smuggled cigarettes worth P3.96 million were seized in Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur on Friday, police reported yesterday.

The smuggled items were in a Mitsubishi Canter truck intercepted along the highway in Barangay Lower Landing at around 5:30 a.m., Zamboanga peninsula spokesperson Maj. Shellamie Chang said in a report.

The driver of the truck, Janisar Isnani, and his helper Abner Abdurahman were arrested.

The suspects were taken into custody after they failed to present the necessary documents for the cargo.
