MANILA, Philippines — Two Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) personnel are under investigation after they were allegedly caught smuggling cigarettes and tobacco into the New Bilibid Prison.
A female nurse was caught with six cigarette packs in her cosmetic pouch. Another employee was caught trying to sneak in tobacco in his underwear.
The BuCor said it is set to file proper administrative charges.
In an interview aired over dzBB yesterday, BuCor chief Gregorio Catapang said they are in a “cat and mouse” situation.
“You see some irregularities, and you solve them. Then you will see another gimmick,” Catapang said in Filipino.
