MANILA, Philippines — Two persons were injured when a 22-wheeler trailer truck crashed into two tow trucks along the Buendia flyover along Roxas Boulevard in Pasay on Monday night.

The victims were identified as tow truck driver Rodrigo Delemus and his companion Angel Banigued, who were pinned inside their vehicle, according to a Pasay City police report.

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) road emergency group team leader Rochelle Purificacion told The STAR that the stalled trailer truck loaded with coil sheet was being pulled by two tow trucks of the Pasay traffic bureau.

She said that due to the trailer truck’s weight, it slid into the tow trucks while going down the Buendia flyover. The accident caused heavy traffic in the area.

It took four hours for the rescuers to extricate the victims from the trailer truck.

Delemus was rushed by the Pasay rescue team to the Pasay City General Hospital, according to Purificacion.

Meanwhile, Charlie Nosares of the MMDA Metrobase said the flyover was cleared at 11:30 a.m. yesterday.

A lamppost and four plant boxes were damaged in the accident.
