Tricycle drivers asked to follow fare matrix
MANILA, Philippines — San Juan Mayor Francis Zamora urged yesterday drivers of tricycles in the city to follow the fare rates approved by the Tricycle Regulatory Board during the weeklong transport strike by jeepney drivers and operators opposing the government’s public utility vehicle modernization program.
Zamora issued an executive order allowing tricycles to travel in all areas in the city until Friday to give commuters an alternative mode of transport.
He said tricycle drivers are allowed to charge passengers P10 for every kilometer and additional P1 for every succeeding kilometer. A special trip costs P30 per kilometer.
“Persons with disabilities, solo parents and students with two valid identification cards are entitled to discounted fares of P8,” Zamora said.
