Intramuros families relocated
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Developments, through its key shelter agency, Social Housing Finance Corp. (SHFC), has turned over 100 houses in Morong, Rizal to informal settler families (ISFs) living in Intramuros in Manila.
In a statement yesterday, the DHSUD said the housing project located in Sitio Tukip, Barangay Lagundi in Morong was implemented under the SHFC’s high-density housing program.
The beneficiaries of the project were ISFs who are members of the Intramuros Community Homeowners’ Association Inc.
The DHSUD said the SHFC, in partnership with the Intramuros Administration, aims to build 470 row houses with loft at the same project site for other beneficiaries.
DHSUD Undersecretary Lyle Pasco represented Housing Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar during the turnover ceremony.
Pasco said the project was part of the Marcos administration’s goal of addressing the country’s housing backlog of over 6.5 million units through the “Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino” program.
