5 nabbed in Las Piñas drug den
MANILA, Philippines — Five people were arrested by anti-narcotics officers in a raid on a suspected drug den in Las Piñas City yesterday that yielded P256,400 worth of illegal drugs.
Lawmen arrested the drug den’s alleged maintainer, John Paul Nartea, 18; and reported customers Philip Lumapas Jr., 18; Badoy Rusiana, 22; Prince Ivan Gabrinao, 22, and Carl Spencer Dequinon, 23.
Southern Police District director Brig. Gen. Kirby John Kraft said the raid occurred in Barangay Aldana at around 4:20 a.m.
Quoting a police report, Kraft said an undercover police officer negotiated a deal with Nartea for P1,000 worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu. Other police officers then raided the drug den after Nartea accepted the marked money.
Lawmen confiscated 28 grams of shabu valued at P190,400, 550 grams of marijuana with a street value of P66,000 and a .38-caliber handgun from the suspects.
Charges of drug trafficking, possession of dangerous drugs and illegal possession of a firearm are being prepared against the suspects.
“Dismantling of a drug den is considered a high-impact operation as drug dens are breeding grounds for violence and criminality and disrupt peace and order in the community,” Kraft said.
