MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has found the drivers liable for two accidents in Parañaque that killed a three-year-old boy and injured a street sweeper last September.

In a statement yesterday, the LTO issued resolutions finding Raymond Zapirain and Rodolfo Cudiamat liable for reckless driving and declared them “improper” to operate motor vehicles.

Zapirain and Cudiamat were fined P2,000 and perpetually disqualified from driving a vehicle, with their driver’s licenses revoked.

Zapirain is the registered owner and driver of the Mitsubishi Pajero, which sideswiped 63-year-old street sweeper Doreen Bacus in Barangay BF Homes on Sept. 24.

Cudiamat is the driver of the vehicle involved in a hit-and-run incident that killed a three-year-old boy and injured his companion along Bodoni street in Barangay San Antonio on Sept. 20.

LTO chief Assistant Secretary Teofilo Guadiz III vowed to rid the road of reckless drivers.

“Our roads have no room for undisciplined drivers who continue to ignore traffic laws. They must suffer the consequences of their actions,” Guadiz said.
