2 men dead in Quezon City shooting
MANILA, Philippines — Two men were killed by unidentified assailants in separate shootings in Barangay Kaligayahan, Quezon City on Sunday.
Police identified the first fatality as Michael Mercino, who was gunned down along Perlas ng Silangan street at around 8:10 p.m.
According to witnesses, a lone gunman approached Mercino and fired at him.
The suspect fled on foot toward an unknown direction.
Bystanders rushed Mercino to the Bernardino General Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
After less than an hour, police said a call center agent was shot dead in front of Hacienda Balay Subdivision.
The victim, Paulo Reynaldo Lazaro, 36, was walking along Zabarte Road when two men on a motorcycle appeared.
The backrider fired at Lazaro multiple times with a handgun of unknown caliber, police said.
Lazaro died while undergoing treatment in the hospital.
Probers said they are searching for leads on the gunmen’s identities.
