Lacuna marks first 100 days as Manila mayor

Marc Jayson Cayabyab - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna commemorated her first 100 days in office with a video on Facebook discussing the city government’s achievements.

In the five-minute video, Lacuna touted the construction of public schools in the city, the promotion of eight tourism hubs, the continued cleaning and clearing operations on roads and waterways and the weekly general cleaning at city hall.

She also touted the services in the city-run district hospitals as well as free laboratory testing offered in the 44 health centers.

The mayor opted to release a video of her first 100 days instead of holding a grand ceremony, which she hoped to reserve after one year of her administration in her first State of the City Address, Lacuna’s spokesperson Princess Abante said yesterday.

The mayor also commemorated her first 100 days during the regular flag-raising ceremony at city hall on Monday.

In her speech, Lacuna thanked employees for her helping her in her first 100 days, which she described as an “easy transition” because she continued the programs of her predecessor former mayor Isko Moreno.

The mayor announced that the Bagong Ospital ng Maynila and the new hospital in Baseco will soon open to the public.

The mayor also announced that the public schools in Manila under construction will open July next year. The city government took a loan from the Development Bank of the Philippines for the renovation of Dr. Alejandro Albert Elementary School, Rosauro Almario Elementary School and Manila Science High School.
