Bilibid inmates’ visitors get free rides
MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) yesterday launched free rides for visitors of inmates at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa.
Vehicles providing “libreng sakay” will pass through the minimum and medium security compounds as well as the Reception and Diagnostic Center at the NBP, according to BuCor.
The BuCor put up designated pick-up areas as the visitors will not be allowed to walk around the national penitentiary to ensure their safety.
Supt. Eduardo Alipit Jr., who supervises the medium security compound building, said the free rides would benefit not only the visitors but the inmates as well.
Last May, the BuCor reinstated the visitation rights of inmates as restrictions due to COVID-19 eased.
