344 OFWs back from Saudi
MANILA, Philippines — Over 300 distressed overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) returned home from Saudi Arabia yesterday, according to Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Susan Ople.
Ople said 344 OFWs arrived in Manila on a Philippine Airlines flight.
Four of the repatriated workers are suffering from medical conditions while five have mental illnesses, according to Ople.
“The OFWs were given medical assistance,” she said.
The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) facilitated the repatriation of the OFWs.
Ople said some of the Filipino workers were accommodated at a Quezon City hotel while waiting for the results of their COVID-19 tests.
“Once cleared, the OFWs will be given transportation assistance by the OWWA so they can be reunited with their families,” she said.
