PCSO chief vows to raise lotto earnings

Rainier Allan Ronda - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Newly designated Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office general manager Melquiades Robles yesterday vowed to initiate reforms at the PCSO and raise government revenues from lotto and other digit games.

Robles and PCSO chairman of the board Junie Cua attended their first flag-raising rites at the agency’s main office in Mandaluyong yesterday.

On July 14, President Marcos appointed Robles as chief of the charity agency, which helps raise funds for the government’s health programs and medical services.

Robles headed the Light Rail Transit Authority under the administration of former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. He was credited for making the rail agency profitable at the time.

Cua served as congressman and governor of Quirino province.
