13 million get free MRT-3 rides
MANILA, Philippines — The Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) has serviced over 13.15 million passengers since the free rides program started on March 28, the railway management said in a statement yesterday.
At least 4,677,749 passengers availed of the free rides from May 1 to 16. This is on top of the 8,472,637 passengers of the free rides program from March 28 to April 30.
Passengers are reminded to comply with minimum health protocols like the wearing of face masks.
Meanwhile, in a dzBB interview yesterday, MRT-3 acting general manager Michael Capati clarified that small pets were allowed in the train as early as July last year.
Small dogs and cats should wear diapers and be put in a carrier.
The pet owners need to sign a waiver that the MRT-3 will not be liable in cases of accidents involving their pets and if their pets bite a passenger, Capati said.
Pet owners are advised to ride the train during off-peak hours and to distance themselves from fellow pet owners to prevent animal fights, Capati added.
