P30 million drugs seized in Negros sting

MANILA, Philippines — Illegal drugs with an estimated street value of at least P30 million have been seized in a sting in Escalante City, Negros Occidental, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said yesterday.

Vicente Sepuesca was collared in Barangay Old Poblacion on Friday afternoon, the PDEA said.

The sting was carried out by a joint team from the PDEA Western and Central Visayas offices; personnel of the Negros Occidental, Central Visayas and Escalante police offices, and Philippine Coast Guard.

The team recovered five large plastic packages believed to contain shabu and  P63,100 in marked money.

Meanwhile, three drug suspects including a high-value target were arrested following a raid on an alleged drug den in Olongapo City on Saturday.

Police identified the suspects as Menandro Manuel, reportedly a major drug supplier; Angelo Llames and Ashley Maroto.

Agents of the PDEA-Central Luzon and personnel of the Olongapo police recovered six plastic sachets containing shabu, drug paraphernalia and marked money.               – Ramon Efren Lazaro
