Valenzuela reopens playgrounds

MANILA, Philippines — After parks and basketball courts, the Valenzuela City government decided to reopen select children’s playgrounds yesterday.

Playgrounds located in the city government’s 3S Centers or multi-agency centers would be open to the public from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., it said in an advisory.

Management of the 3S Centers may limit the capacity of the playgrounds, it noted.

The city government said that children coming to the playgrounds must be accompanied by their parents or guardians.

Children should also practice health and safety protocols against COVID-19 such as wearing face masks, physical distancing and frequent handwashing.

On Friday, the city government announced it has reopened the Valenzuela City Family Park and the Polo Park, as well as basketball courts. However, only fully vaccinated residents would be allowed to enter and use these facilities.

As of Thursday, the city government registered a total of 43,441 confirmed COVID-19 patients with 42,287 recoveries, 911 deaths and 243 active cases. The record of active cases was lower than the 3,343 active cases on Jan. 12.
