Pasay mayor catches virus
MANILA, Philippines — Pasay City Mayor Emi Rubiano has contracted COVID-19 once again, the local government announced yesterday.
In a message to reporters, Rubiano’s chief of staff Peter Pardo said the mayor tested positive for COVID-19 and is undergoing quarantine in an undisclosed isolation facility.
Pardo said Rubiano is symptomatic.
Rubiano suffered from a sore throat on Saturday and was immediately tested for COVID-19. Her positive results came back yesterday.
The mayor first tested positive for COVID-19 in February last year.
“She will continue to discharge her functions as mayor and will hold online meetings while she recovers from the disease,” the city government said.
