MRT passengers reach 190,000 amid pandemic

MANILA, Philippines — The Metro Rail Transit-3 (MRT-3) serviced over 190,000 commuters on Friday, the largest since it resumed operations during the pandemic.
A total of 193,891 passengers rode the MRT-3 last Friday, the train management said in a statement.
The management attributed this to increased passenger capacity under the less strict Alert Level 2 as well as the deployment of more operational trains.
In December last year, the MRT-3 increased the train speed to 60 kilometers per hour from 50 kph.
