Baguio ICU utilization rate now at low risk

BAGUIO CITY, Philippine  – Critical care utilization rate or the number of intensive care units, isolation beds and ventilators used by COVID patients in this city has dropped to low risk.

City health officer Rowena Galpo said current hospital critical care utilization rate in private and public hospitals decreased to 59.2 percent compared to the previous week’s 63 percent.

She said occupancy in isolation facilities also dropped to 16.3 percent from last week’s 23.7 percent.

Demand for medical oxygen has likewise decreased.

Galpo expressed hope that the decline in COVID-19 cases would continue in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, in Pangasinan, new cases dropped from an all-time daily high of 878 in September to single-digit on Thursday.

The provincial health office recorded eight new cases, bringing the active infections to 182.

Zero active cases were also recorded in Agno, Alcala, Anda, Balungao, Dasol, Infanta, Mabini, Sto. Tomas, Urbiztondo, Alaminos City and Dagupan City. The towns of Binalonan, Burgos, Natividad, San Manuel and Sual each logged one case. – Eva Visperas
