1,238 bets running under Miriam’s PRP

MANILA, Philippines — The People’s Reform Party (PRP) founded by the late senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago will field 1,238 national and local candidates in next year’s elections.

PRP vice president Rey David said among their local candidates are Vanessa Aumentado, who is seeking the post to be vacated by her husband Erico Aristotle Aumentado as representative of the second district of Bohol, and Bukidnon fourth district Rep. Rogelio Neil Roque, who is running for governor.

Pasig Vice Mayor Iyo Christian Bernardo is running for mayor under the PRP.

David said they are consolidating and strengthening the party and their lineup from senator to council members.

In the 2019 elections, the PRP forged a coalition with the Hugpong ng Pagbabago of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.

Last week, presidential adviser Leoncio Evasco Jr. and Philippine Sports Commission chairman William Ramirez were sworn in as PRP members.

Evasco was appointed party president for operation while Ramirez is vice president for organization.
