Pilot shot dead in Laguna

LAGUNA, Philippines — A pilot died in a gun attack in Barangay 7-C in San Pablo City yesterday.

Jeffrey Palce, 41, a Philippine Airlines pilot and resident of Barangay Antipolo in Rizal town, died on the way to the Pagamutang Panlalawigan ng Laguna.

Palce’s companion Vicentito Isles was wounded before he managed to escape from the assailants.

M/Sgt. Nemecio Guzman said the victims had just attended a court hearing when they were shot.

Probers are eyeing either a grudge or politics as the motive for the killing.

Palce’s wife told authorities that he was planning to run for mayor in next year’s elections.

The fatality, who was a former councilor and provincial board member.
