Malabon school classroom gutted by fire

MANILA, Philippines — A classroom at the Tonsuya Elementary School in Malabon City was destroyed by fire yesterday.

The blaze started at the third-floor classroom of the school’s DepEd New Building 1 at around 10:07 a.m., according to the city’s Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) office.

The fire reached first alarm before it was put out at around 10:45 a.m.

School personnel told firefighters the fire destroyed stacks of modules for students’ remote learning.

No one was hurt in the fire. The city’s BFP office has yet to determine the cause of the fire and the amount of damage incurred.
